New York Governor Pardons Slick Rick

Slick Rick's efforts to avoid being deported from the United States improved today (May 23) as he was pardoned by New York Governor David Paterson for the attempted murders of two men in 1991.
Slick Rick, born Ricky Walters, spent five years behind bars in the 90's for shooting his cousin and another man.  Both men survived.
Since his release, federal immigration officials have attempted to deport the rapper to his native home of Britain which he moved from at age 11.
According to The New York Times, Paterson issued a statement Friday saying he has granted Slick Rick a full and unconditional pardon to help him seek relief from deportation.
Paterson also said that Slick Rick, who is a landlord in the Bronx, has not had any criminal problems since his release from prison and counsels youths against violence.

Doris Day - Wilson Day Was My Style Icon

Singer for 1960's girl group THE SUPREMES MARY WILSON idolised Hollywood bombshell DORIS DAY - hailing the actress her style icon.

The Baby Love hitmaker even dyed her afro hair blonde in an attempt to look like the Calamity Jane star and regularly tried to copy her sexy dress sense.

But the main reason the singer admired Day was because of her bubbly personality.

She says, "As I got older, Doris Day became one of my favourite style icons. She was just so cute and perky, and happy all the time."

My drinks were spiked, Lily Allen claims

Pop star Lily Allen claims her drunken appearance at an awards show may have been caused by spiked drinks.

The Smile singer, sporting a new bright pink haircut, was carried out of Glamour Awards earlier this week after seemingly having too much to drink.

But Britain's Daily Mail reported Allen as saying:  "I don't know what happened, maybe I was spiked. I don't remember a thing. I can normally get really drunk, but not like that.

"The worrying thing was that I was like a dead weight. I have been out so many times and got drunk and never ended up like that.

"What was worse was that the cab just drove off with only me in it. My brother and my mates were not with me."

Allen - who won the Editor's Award at the star-studded ceremony on Tuesday night - thanked her brother Alfie for helping her get home.

She wrote on her blog: "Last time I wrote here, I was defending my honour and dignity, explaining my innocence and also outrage at the press for insinuating my behaviour was embarrassing.

"This time I'm putting my hands up - I got very drunk, too drunk. It's not cool getting that drunk, I feel awful and I have to thank my little brother Alfie for getting me home safely.

"Kids, drink responsibly or you'll end up looking like this, not pretty! Was quite fun though, from what I can remember."

Other celebrities at the ceremony included Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell, actress Kate Beckinsale and Heroes star Hayden Panettiere.

Tim Allen to direct 'Crazy on the Outside'

Tim Allen will make his feature directorial debut with the comedy 'Crazy on the Outside', according to Variety.
Allen will also star in the independent film, along with Ray Liotta, Carrie-Anne Moss, Julie Bowen and Kelsey Grammer.
Written by Judd Pillot and John Peaslee, the adult-themed comedy stars Allen as a parolee who finds life outside a prison cell to be much crazier once he enters his quirky sister's world.
Allen recently wrapped on two films, the David Mamet-directed 'Redbelt' and the comedy 'The Six Wives of Henry Lefay'.
He's currently filming the voice of Buzz Lightyear for 'Toy Story 3', which is due for release in 2010.
Filming on 'Crazy on the Outside' is scheduled to begin later this month in Los Angeles.
